Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Primary Music and Drama Teacher who is a native English speaker to join our teaching team. As a Music and Drama Teacher, you will be responsible for developing students' musical abilities, performance skills, and creative expression while fostering their confidence and artistic sensibilities. The ideal candidate should have recognized music teaching qualifications, speech and drama certifications, and be capable of creating dynamic, performance-based learning experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

Music Curriculum Design and Delivery: Develop and teach comprehensive music lessons covering theory, practical skills, music appreciation, and performance according to the school's educational objectives.


Speech and Drama Integration: Lead drama classes and productions, focusing on voice projection, articulation, stage presence, and theatrical performance skills.


Performance Development: Organize and direct school concerts, musicals, drama productions, and recitals while providing opportunities for all students to showcase their talents.


Ensemble Direction: Lead and conduct school choirs, orchestras, and instrumental ensembles, preparing students for performances and competitions.


Student Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress in musical development, dramatic performance, and theoretical understanding, providing constructive feedback to support their artistic growth.


Collaboration and Parent Communication: Work closely with other subject teachers and communicate effectively with parents to ensure performing arts education aligns with the overall academic goals of the school.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Educational Background: A degree in Music, Performing Arts, Drama, or a related field.


Teaching Qualifications:

* Recognized Music Teaching Certification (ABRSM, Trinity College, or equivalent)

* Speech and Drama qualifications (LAMDA, Trinity College Drama, or equivalent)

* Teaching certification for primary education

* Native English speaker


Teaching Experience: At least 2 years of teaching experience in primary education, specifically in music and drama. Experience with school productions and performances is essential.


Skills:

Strong musical proficiency in at least one instrument (piano proficiency required)

Extensive knowledge of music theory, history, and various musical styles

Experience in directing theatrical productions and musical ensembles

Proficiency in using music technology and digital recording equipment

Educational Philosophy: Passionate about performing arts education, patient, and creative

Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills with native English fluency


Preferred Candidates:

Candidates with additional musical instrument proficiencies

Experience in musical theater direction

Background in vocal training and choral direction

Strong classroom management skills and the ability to work in a diverse learning environment

Schedule:

* Day shift

* Monday to Friday

* Additional hours may be required for rehearsals and performances


Experience:

* Music Teaching: 6 years (Required)

* Drama Teaching: 6 years (Preferred)

* Production Direction: 6 years (Preferred)


Work Location: In person

* Must be willing to lead after-school rehearsals and direct school productions

* Must be comfortable with evening and weekend commitments during performance seasons

*Must have experience in Speech and Drama productions.

* Must have knowledge playing musical instruments (piano, guitar, etc)
