Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description:

The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of cost control, financial monitoring, and contract administration throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. The role includes preparing budgets, handling tenders, sourcing quotations, managing contracts, conducting site measurements, and ensuring timely payments to subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately measure and take off quantities from drawings and site, ensuring quantities align with project specifications.
  • Source quotations from suppliers, specialists, and subcontractors, evaluating them based on cost, quality, and performance.
  • Prepare costing summaries for review and assist in preparing and submitting tender proposals and price breakdowns.
  • Prepare project budgets and monitor them regularly, tracking costs against the budget and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Recommend subcontractors for award, prepare subcontract agreements, and negotiate terms and conditions with subcontractors.
  • Conduct site measurements to verify work is aligned with contract and attend site meetings with clients, consultants, and project teams.
  • Review and verify subcontractor progress claims, ensuring timely responses for payments based on progress.
  • Assess and prepare variation orders and claims, ensuring accurate documentation of variations and their cost impacts.
  • Prepare and submit progress claims and compile and prepare project final accounts, ensuring accuracy.
  • Maintain records of all contract and subcontract documents, and manage the transmission of documents and drawings to clients and consultants.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on project finances, and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Job Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Building / Civil Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities and effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Individuals of the highest calibre who are confident, driven and with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • PC literate in Word / Excel / Power Point /AutoCAD etc.
  • Good team player and able to work independently with positive attitude.
  • Opportunities for career growth into senior roles such as Senior Quantity Surveyor or Project Manager, with access to professional training and certifications.
