What will your essential responsibilities include?
• Provide technical input for cross functional projects and support local management and underwriting teams on implementing business strategies across Singapore and Hong Kong.
• Provide pricing advice and input into product and country QBRs (Business Review Meetings) as well as provide pricing insights and perspectives to the AXA XL Asia leadership on a regular basis.
• Provide pricing support to underwriters through both individual case pricing and via a detailed understanding of global LoB (Line of Business) specific pricing tools. Where possible research validity of assumptions within pricing models and when experience is available test against initial assumptions.
• Fulfill objectives from APAC Actuarial operational plan as well as helping to set these objectives for the business.
• Line management of colleague in Singapore actuarial team, including setting workload and management of personal development. Provide technical training as needed.
• Provide analytical support to management and underwriters, including but not limited to portfolio analysis, model review and actuarial due diligence on potential portfolio acquisitions. This may also include redevelopment of APAC specific MI to assist management.
• Determine appropriate underwriting and loss ratio assumptions for the annual planning process including the Pricing view of LR process where country specific assumptions are required.
• Assist local finance team on metrics reconciliation and provide feedback to help improve the global MI dashboards.
• Liaise with external appointed actuaries in Singapore and Hong Kong to ensure quality of local statutory reserve and answer queries from local regulators.
• Review a sample of adequacy and profitability measures reported by underwriters on a regular basis and report findings.
• Ensure Regional Actuary and as appropriate other members of the actuarial team are kept fully aware of any key issues and related developments.
• Ensure Continuing Professional Development standards are monitored and appropriate. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of key insurance issues.
• Finally, and in addition to the above key accountabilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
• Qualification: The role requires the postholder to be a fully qualified Actuary.
• Experience: 5 years general insurance experience, ideally with pricing and reserving experience.
• Up to date appreciation of the technical requirements of the role.
• Proven ability in identifying and analysing problems, creating good solutions, deploying sound decision making skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally), establishing credibility amongst a wide and demanding client group.
• Demonstrable evidence of interpreting & manipulating data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
• First class report writing skills, ability to develop and present ideas and reasoned arguments clearly and concisely to various audiences.
• Able to organise self (and others if applicable) including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills, completing tasks to tight deadlines.
• Comfortable taking ownership for own work, identifying the need for action (using initiative) whilst working effectively within a team.
• The role would suit highly driven self-starters, with a strong desire to challenge and deliver.
• Working knowledge of programming in SQL, R or Python and / or building Power BI dashboards would be desirable.
