Position Overview and Purpose

Wheels Media is on a road map to digital transformation from print to digital and now e-commerce. Lead the creation and development of a technology architecture that enables the business to achieve revenue and audience goals into the future. Manage high-traffic WhichCar.com.au website efficiently and assist pioneer new e-commerce revenue streams Establish strong control over technical and software partnerships and associated costings and budgets Responsible for removing roadblocks for the team by making key decisions, seeking decisions from stakeholders and/or actioning change to move forward. Supremely confident with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, NodeJS, ReactJS and AWS Services and comfortable with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify.

Technical leadership

Ensure the tech team has a clear, agreed product roadmap in alignment with business objectives. Lead in technical architecture recommendations including tech-stack layer such as CMS, Image hosting, advertising and e-commerce initiatives Remove roadblocks for team by making key decisions, seeking decisions from stakeholders and/or actioning change to enable team Manage stakeholders via consistent communication and setting clear expectations of digital delivery status Highlight technical threats/weaknesses to stakeholders and identify possible solutions Minimise downtime across all platforms Develop processes relating to data security/backup, threat management and disaster recovery Prepare reporting for the Board as required Recruit new team members and/or engage external resources as required

Editorial, Structured Data & Advertising Platforms

Maintain and improve WhichCar.com.au website platform in terms of CMS, plug-ins and associated editorial, advertising and integration of structured automotive specs Ensure high quality publishing platform for content creators Development and integration of new ad formats

E-Commerce Platform

Work with executive team to identify technical architecture for e-commerce, marketplace and affiliate business models Negotiate with e-commerce platform vendors and integrate into WhichCar website Onboarding of marketplace merchants, affiliate retailers and multi-channel advertisers into new e-commerce offers Help launch new revenue products in 2023 in a range of e-commerce verticals and experiments

Capability Profile

Essential

Extensive program/technical project management experience in high-traffic digital businesses

High level of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects within technical settings.

Expertise in Javascript / NodeJS with strong frontend skills, experience working with core AWS services, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes

Excellent ability to prioritize, plan, and track large scale programs

Experience mentoring and leading a team of developers

Managed technical software vendors and associated contracts

Desirable

Would suit a senior developer/architect looking to get more executive experience

Familiarity with Github, AWS, SSH, Google Tag Manager

Managed a range of technical projects whether transformations or start-ups

Experience in digital media and/or automotive industry
