Job Description

As an experienced professional and member of an in-house team of development engineering and techno-commercial experts within Financial Services business at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for highlighting the development, technical, operational, cost and schedule risks associated with equity investments in development, construction and operating power & renewable assets and projects. Additionally, we expect this individual to propose mitigates in support of underwriting and portfolio management.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Specialize in assessing technical, operational, construction and development risks in the energy industry and for the deal / project under review for investment by Financial Services (FS) at GE Vernova.

  • Assist and support the efforts of FS underwriting and portfolio groups in identification and mitigation of risks and in execution of investment objectives. Perform techno-commercial due diligence for both underwriting and portfolio holdings.

  • Review and instructively comment on technical and construction specifications as outlined in key project documents such as interconnection, power off-take, permits, land agreements, and equipment, construction, operations and maintenance contracts, in some cases even leading / supporting the negotiations of these documents.

  • Ensure that technical and business-related issues are communicated within FSand provide techno-commercial risk assessments for credit requests with suitable mitigation measures.

  • Interact with FS customers and partners and other GE Vernova Industrial Business teams in the completion of due diligence and negotiation of financing terms related to technical issues.

  • Possess understanding of the risk appetite, and portfolio management philosophy of FS.

  • Be familiar with the GE Vernova industrial product offerings and maintain contacts within different GE Vernova Industrial businesses as required.

  • Actively monitor portfolio (e.g. regulatory requirements, development progress, construction, physical plant optimization, and contractual performance). Possess in-depth understanding of how specific sub-function interacts with the broader business, as well as a good understanding of the industry and commercial awareness.

  • For assigned projects under construction, develop and supervise construction management teams and ensure construction safety, environmental compliance, cost and schedule performance. Provide internal reporting on construction status.

  • Support FS efforts to sell equity positions through assembly of technical project information and responding to buyer’s technical questions.

  • This role will be based in GE Office. Must be able to travel within the Asia Pacific regions for about 50% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Civil Engineering; ( or equivalent ).

  • At least 10 years of experience in techno-commercial due diligence and risk evaluation in the power and energy space with specific focus on renewable energy and combined cycle gas projects; Exposure to specialist areas like pre-combustion and post-combustion de-carbonisation, high voltage transmission technologies and small modular reactors will be a big added asset.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook

  • Project development experience;

  • Skilled communicator who is capable of negotiating technical and commercial points internally and externally at high levels ;

  • Strong inter personal skills.
